Cheltenham results - Day 1

Day One of the Cheltenham Festival was one of the most memorable in the festival's storied history, and there were some famous Cheltenham results.

Constitution Hill served up a performance worthy of the true greats of the sport with an emphatic nine-lengths victory in the Champions Hurdle.

And then the next race - the Mares Hurdle - served up scenes of true emotion that will not be forgotten any time soon.

The legendary Honeysuckle dug so, so deep to win her fourth ever race at the Festival. Killenaule's Rachael Blackmore gave the horse a heroic ride and after the race paid tribute to Jack de Bromhead, the late son of Honeysuckle's trainer Henry de Bromhead (she also got a nice dig in to Matt Chapman). Jack passed away in September in a freak riding accident and his father paid an emotional tribute to him after the race. There were unforgettable scenes in the parade ring as Honeysuckle was welcomed home in her last run at the race course.

It also a famous day for young Cork jockey Mikey O'Sullivan who won both his first and second winners at the festival, aboard Marine Nationale in the Supreme Novices Hurdle and Jazzy Matty in the Juvenile Handicap Hurdle. What a day for the 23-year-old.
