Conor McGregor Closes The Door On Rematch With Mayweather
Did we really need confirmation? Conor McGregor has today come out in an Instagram post responding to reports that Mayweather had pulled out of negotiations for any potential rematch with the Dubliner in the sport of MMA:
I am happy for Floyd and his recent announcement that he is out of these current fight negotiations.
It is the reason I never seeked the rematch in the first place. I was happy for him in retirement.
My game is a very unforgiving one. It is not like other games.
I understand completely him staying retired. I will now carry on in my negotiations and see where it goes.
Have a great retirement Junior.
Now come here and give your old man a hug for old times sake. I'm proud of you son.
Typically condescending from the Notorious, but hopefully it will spell the end of the media chatter surrounding the pair. That Mayweather would risk his legacy to step into the octagon, even for a massive amount of money is hard to believe and hopefully the Crumlin man's post, however full of bluster it may be, is the conclusion to their relationship as opponents.
