What is it recently that has compelled sportspeople to start stealing cars?

Reports from the BBC have revealed that a Canadian Winter Olympian, his wife and manager have been charged with stealing a car while in South Korea for the games.

Only shortly after four West Bromwich Albion players were reported to have stolen a taxi while enjoying a mid-season break in Barcelona, it is more troubling perhaps that the manager in question has also been charged with drink-driving in this particular incident.

Although the names of the trio involved have yet to be revealed by the Canadian Olympic committee, reports in Canada are claiming that skier Dave Duncan is the guilty athlete in question.

Speaking on the matter, the Canadian Olympic committee had the following to say:

We can confirm that an incident occurred involving the police around midnight Friday or early morning Saturday.

We have confirmation that individuals attached to our team are involved in the investigation and are co-operating. We take this matter very seriously.

However, until we know the results of the investigation we're not really in a position to comment further.

With the games set to conclude on Sunday, Canada have enjoyed their most successful winter games yet; their 11 gold medals placing them third behind Germany and Norway overall, and a healthy portion of their 28 medals won overall.

A concluding story to the games that Canada will undoubtedly look on with some dismay, Duncan was not among those to have claimed one of the country's 28 medals.
