This is what Leinster are doing to the rest of European rugby at the moment - making them reconsider their life choices. Okay we are being slightly facetious, but it is true that Wasps winger Christian Wade has suddenly rugby to chase his dream of a career in the NFL.
Wade is only 27 but is a Wasps veteran, and is the third-highest try scorer in the history of the English Premiership: he has touched down more than 80 times for the London club, and once scored six in a single game against Worcester in 2016.
Oddly, he has played just once for England - in Argentina on a 2013 summer tour. He was slated to start the game after his debut, but was whisked away to join the Lions' tour of Australia in 2013. Injuries then ruled him out of England's Autumn series, and has been unable to force his way back into the international set-up since.
Now he is set to turn his back on it all in favour of a move into the NFL. There have been no reports yet of his landing a contract with anyone.
He is not the first - although is the highest-profile - Premiership player to make the switch. lex Gray, who played with Wade at under-20 level at the Junior World Cup in 2011, has made the switch to Atlanta Falcons while Christian Scotland-Williamson has done likewise from Worcester Warriors to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
For Irish fans, it may also stir those curious days of old where it was rumoured that Ronan O'Gara would quit rugby to become Miami Dolphins' kicker. That, thankfully, didn't happen.
Wasps are planning to offset the loss of Wade with the signing of All Black Malaki Fekitoa.
