Darragh McElhinney Shows Serious Burst Of Pace To Claim 1500m Win
By Arthur James O'Dea Updated

The Irish Life Health Junior and U23 Track and Field Championships took this place this afternoon amidst sweltering conditions in Tullamore.

With athletes coming from all across the country to compete in a day-long series of track and field events, the Junior Mens 1500m threw up one of the races of the day.

Although the going was understandably slow early on, Darragh McElhinney, running out of Bantry, gave a stellar performance to claim the win in a sprint finish.

Despite some fierce competition, the 17-year-old read the race well and finished strongly; even throwing in a good fist-pump for good measure.

You can see an alternative view of McElhinney's sprint finish below.
