There was an extraordinary finish to the men's 5,000 metres at the Diamond League meeting in Lausanne yesterday, which resulted in a couple Ethiopian runners sabotaging each other.

As the race entered its home straight, Yomif Kejelcha was tripped from behind by his compatriot Selemon Barega, presumably accidentally. In immediate retribution, however, Kejelcha grabbed Barega's shorts as he passed him by.

As the two men tangled with each other, Kenya's Birhanu Balew sprinted past to win the race. Barega managed to rebound to take second place, while Kejelcha was unsurprisingly disqualified.
