The last of the Irish athletics team to depart the European Championships in Munich have arrived back to Dublin Airport this afternoon.

Family, friends and supporters turned up to see the athletes arrive back.

Mark English had some extra luggage on the flight back as he brought the bronze medal which he won yesterday evening home.

It was the second time the Donegal man medalled at the championships, having done so previously back in 2014.

Three national records were also smashed, as Israel Olatunde (100m), Rhasidat Adeleke (400m) and the women's 4x400m relay team soared to new heights.

Ciara Mageean also made the podium finishing second in the women's 1500m final.
