Steph Curry is one of the most famous athletes in the world, with the basketball superstar recently adding a fourth NBA championship with the Golden State Warriors earlier this year.

Since then, he has been enjoying a bit of down time before the season resumes next month. His social media followers would have seen snaps of various holidays in exotic locations over the last few months, but it was a surprise to see him pop up in Ireland in recent days.

The 34-year old shared a post on Instagram, showing himself and his wife Ayesha taking in the sights on the Guinness brewery tour.

He also made a stop at Irish Rugby HQ to get a bit of training in.

While there, he would meet up with another sporting legend in Johnny Sexton to exchange jerseys.

Two legends.

Curry was spotted out and about on the streets of Dublin on a couple of occasions.

Why was Steph Curry in Ireland?

There was a bit of confusion as to why Steph Curry had made a quick stopover in Ireland. It was an odd time of year to come, with the beginning of NBA training camp just around the corner.

Some speculated that he was here to see Garth Brooks in Croke Park. However, there seems to be a very straightforward explanation.

Ayesha Curry, his wife, is very much a celebrity in her own right in the USA. She has almost 8million followers on Instagram and has launched numerous businesses and media ventures over the years.

As it turns out, she is also the reason the couple made their way across the Atlantic.

Ayesha Curry is set to star in an upcoming Netflix movie alongside Lindsay Lohan, which is currently being filmed here.

Irish Wish, which will also star the likes of Ed Speleers and Jane Seymour, is set to be released on the streaming platform next year.

The movie will centre on Lohan, who suffers heartbreak when her ex-boyfriend becomes engaged to her best friend. After travelling to Ireland for the wedding, she makes a wish and ends up waking up as the bride in the upcoming nuptials. However, she soon begins to realise that her soulmate may be someone else.

Thrilling, I know.

Considering how Hollywood has handled similar movies based in Ireland in the past, the cringe factor is likely to be ratcheted up quite a bit for this one.

Lohan has been Ireland for a couple of weeks now for filming, posing for pictures with fans in Wicklow on a number of occasions.

Ayesha Curry's recent Instagram stories suggest she is still in the country, although it is unclear if Steph has travelled back to the States. He may have spent a couple of days holidaying in Ireland before her part in filming got underway.

Either way, hopefully he will make his way back to these shores at some point.
