If you're a fan of pulsating live sport, a truly marquee event will be held in Dublin next month. On May 12th at Dundrum Town Centre, the first-ever #HulaHoops3x3 basketball tournament will be staged. The FIBA-endorsed outdoor tournament will bring together the finest basketball talent in Ireland in the compelling three-against-three format, as teams from the Basketball Ireland National Leagues will vie to be crowned #HulaHoops3x3 champions.

The news came as Hula Hoops announced it had renewed its partnership with Basketball Ireland for three more years.

It's already been a tremendous year for Irish basketball, following the dramatic conclusion to the men's Super League and a memorable Hula Hoops National Cup final weekend. The #HulaHoops3x3 tournament is certain to be an amazing event for Irish sports fans. Among the teams set to line out in the men's tournament are reigning Hula Hoops National Cup champs Templeogue, League winners UCD Marian, League runners-up Killester and u20 cup runners-up Moycullen. On the women's side, League winners Glanmire, Hula Hoops National Cup champions DCU Mercy and regular season winners Liffey Celtics will be among the teams challenging for the title.

"We are so excited for this 3x3 tournament in Dundrum Town Centre this May,” said Conor Meany of Basketball Ireland. “Hula Hoops have been a fantastic supporter of Irish basketball over the past three years and now with their help, we are bringing basketball to a whole new audience. With 3x3 now an Olympic sport, hopefully this is the start of something big for the game in Ireland.”

All of the dramatic basketball action will take place right in the heart of the Dundrum Town Centre on Saturday May 12 from 12-5pm.  Be sure to be there to witness a historic day for Irish basketball.
