Aimee Carty's 'Two Days into College' has already made its presence felt on TikTok on these shores but the Irish musician's clever song has made a massive leap in views after it was used in a viral edit of US college basketball player Jared McCain.
University student and musician Carty, who hails from Galway, made a big impression on Irish social media when she dropped the first version of 'Two Days Into College' on TikTok and Instagram Reels back in September. It currently sits on over a million likes on Instagram - but the song has found renewed life on TikTok through a thoroughly unexpected source.
'Two Days into College' is, as you'd expect, about the struggles of trying to maintain your studies and social life early in university. It's a brilliantly clever song, with plenty of fun wordplay and some lovely piano playing underneath it all.
The song has evidently made an impression on college students further afield, given its surprising appearance on a fan-made edit of young basketball Jared McCain.

College basketball player helps push Irish musician's viral song on TikTok
McCain is a star of the Duke Blue Devils in the Atlantic Coast Conference of the NCAA, and is among the highest-rated stars to have entered the league in recent years. He received a five-star recruiting rating from ESPN in 2022 when he was on the wishlist of many college basketball teams, and he has an U-18 Americas Championship gold medal to his name from the same year.
The Sacramento native shared a video on TikTok of him singing Aimee Carty's viral song in the locker room last week. A basketball fan page named jordy has now made an edit which fades the clip of McCain singing it into a highlights reel of his best moments so far for Duke, set to the soundtrack of Carty's recording.

It's a thoroughly unforeseen crossover event and it has seen Carty's song find an entirely new audience.
The original video of McCain singing the song sits on 4.9 million views on TikTok, while the jordy edit is now on a whopping 8.6 million views. Carty's own video of the song has surpassed 15 million plays.
'Two Days into College' was already making waves on Irish social media but it is brilliant to see a huge amount of new exposure coming to the young musician's song.
