Bernard Dunne Explains Why Katie Taylor Lost Her Fight To A Supposedly Weaker Opponent

Bernard Dunne, along with RTÉ panel-mate Eric Donovan and - thankfully - Michael Conlan, can stake a claim to be one of the few Irish boxers to have had a decent Olympic Games.

The former WBA World super-bantamweight champion has pulled no punches in his criticism of Irish boxers throughout what now can only be considered a disastrous campaign, and though he expressed his sympathy for the legendary Bray boxer, he explained in no uncertain terms to a rigorous Joanne Cantwell what had gone wrong for the former champion.

Dunne was adamant that Taylor and her corner should have been aware of her Finnish opponent Mira Potkonen's singular weapon, her rangy right hand, and suggested the change of personnel in her corner - with her father Pete no longer present - has had a detrimental effect on her consistency.
