Many speculated as to whether Conor McGregor could successfully make the transition from MMA to boxing in the build up to this debut bout with Floyd Mayweather.

Well, as he moved into the tenth round of tonight's fight, many were astonished that the UFC star had held on as long as he did.

After 2 or 3 rounds, things seemed positive for the Dublin native. As quickly as he started though, the sting in McGregor's punches seemed to diminish and a recalculation was necessary.

With Mayweather looking the fitter man despite the eleven-year disparity in age, from round three onward the competitive nature of the fight was lost somewhat.

Realistically out of his element against the now 50-0 Mayweather, McGregor has much to be proud of - if for his resilience rather than his boxing ability.

Stopped in the 10th when the inevitability of Mayweather's victory was absolute, people from both world's of Boxing and MMA have had their say on this highly-anticipated bout.

Although little more can be said of Mayweather's brilliance, admiration for McGregor's effort was forthcoming.
