Gardaí are at the scene of a shooting at Bray Boxing Club.

One man has died and two others were seriously injured in the incident which happened at approximately 6:55 am on Tuesday morning.

Gardai have confirmed that the man who died is aged 50. The other two men, who have been hospitalised, are aged 35 and 57. The 57-year-old is Pete Taylor, father of Irish boxer, Katie Taylor.

The suspect left the scene in a silver Volkswagen Caddy bearing Northern Irish plates.

According to RTÉ's crime correspondent, Paul Reynolds, who was speaking on Radio One's Morning Ireland, the gunman fired shots both outside and inside the club. A number of fighters were training there at the time.

Bray Boxing Club, which is in the town's harbour area, is where Katie Taylor and fellow Olympian Adam Nolan trained. It was set up by Pete Taylor in 1996.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to contact Bray Garda Station on 01 6665300.
