Canelo Alvarez stopped Liam Smith at AT&T Stadium on Saturday night to claim the WBO light middleweight title.
The stoppage came in the ninth round when the Mexican hit Smith with a devastating left to the body.
For the third time in the fight, the Brit was on the deck. The first knockdown came in the seventh round and the second in the eighth. On the third occasion, there would be no recovery for Smith.
It was Smith's third defence of the title which he won just less than a year ago against John Thompson. In front of 50,000, he put up a valiant effort but Alvarez's power was too much.

Alvarez is now 48-1-1 in his career.
Hopefully, what comes next for Alvarez is the fight everyone wants to see - him versus Gennady Golovkin.
