Spike O'Sullivan suffered the third defeat of his career on Saturday night. The Cork man lasted just 164 seconds against Canadian David Lemieux in their WBA middleweight title eliminator on the GGG vs Canelo 2 card in Las Vegas.

At the 2:44 point of the first round, the 29-year-old Lemieux landed a devastating left hook which floored the 34-year-old O'Sullivan.

With O'Sullivan unable to regain his feet, the referee called the right.

There had been plenty of trash talk between the two in the build-up, a factor Lemieux immediately referenced.

"Don’t mess with me – when O’Sullivan talked, I kept it in me," Lemieux said after the fight.

I bring it to the ring, I don’t disrespect my opponents, I don’t trash talk.

This was my lesson to him, to be humble. I’m tired of these world champions smash talking just to promote their fights. I want to be able to teach my kids and the kids that follow me to be respectful and to never call out a fighter and keep it professional. I hope he learns to be humble, or be humbled.
