In an up-and-down day for Irish boxers at the AIBA World Boxing Championships, Jason Quigley and Joe Ward came through their respective quarter-finals to be guaranteed at least bronze even before they step into the ring again on Friday.
On the other side of things, Michael Conlan, Tommy McCarthy and Paddy Barnes suffered disappointing defeats, with Barnes suffering a cut after falling on his opponent's knee.
