Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed Katie Taylor's next fight could be the "first all-female main event" to take place at Madison Square Garden in April.
Hearn also admitted that he felt Amanda Serrano would be Taylor's next challenger, even if she is already pencilled in for an MMA fight at the end of January. The promoter believes the fight with Taylor can still happen before the summer.
Delfine Persoon, Cecilia Braekhus and Serrano remain the most obvious targets, though speaking to iFL TV Hearn outlined his preference for the Puerto Rican.
I think [Amanda Serrano] has to be next and I think it will be. I think that will come in April. I think that should be in New York. I think that could be the first all-female main event to headline at the Garden. It's a monstrous fight. That could be the year.
Let's lock in this Serrano fight. Everybody seems to want that fight.
Let's make this fight in April - it's a wonderful fight.
Taylor previously fought Serrano's sister, Cindy, back in 2018, retaining both WBA and IBF world lightweight belts in the process. Since then, a fight against the younger sister has been the subject of much of the discourse surrounding the Irish fighter's career.
Taylor, currently boasting a record of 15-0, has fought at the Mecca of boxing in Manhattan on two occasions. Similarly, Serrano, currently boasting a record of 37-1, made her last two appearances in the boxing ring at the iconic New York venue.
