It just wasn't to be.
Katie Taylor has been defeated in her big homecoming fight, losing to Chantelle Cameron by majority decision at the 3Arena this evening.
It was an absolute battle throughout, although it's fair to say the Englishwoman probably started the stronger of the two fighters.
The two stood and exchanged big blows on a number of occasions, putting on a real show for the fans in attendance.

While Taylor would improve over the course of the fight, there was a sense that she may have come up just short in her quest to become an undisputed champion in a higher weight class.
That turned out to be the case, with Cameron taking the fight by a majority decision.

I'm not sure (who won) to be honest, I'll have to look back at the fight. It was obviously a very close fight.

I wouldn't say I was surprised with how fast she was, I expected everything that came my way. It was a tough battle, a gruelling ten rounds like I expected it to be.
I guess I just came up short tonight. I look forward to the next time we face each other...
I thought I was boxing quite well in the early rounds to win those rounds. It's too soon from the fight to comment on and who won the rounds, but I know it was a close fight, every single round was close.
What can you do? This is boxing.
The epitome of class.
We're already looking forward to the rematch.
