This Mike Tyson Outtakes Video From 1995 Is Hysterical

In 1995, Mike Tyson was released from prison after serving three years in prison for the rape of Desiree Washington. His hugely-anticipated comeback bout was against the little-known Peter McNeeley. That's a controversial story worthy of another post in itself, but today we're keeping things light by having a look at this video of Tyson recording the promos for the various cable transmissions of the fight.

Highlights include Tyson repeatedly saying "CableVision" when he really shouldn't, "cock cable", "cum cable", and when his frustration leads him to hit Don King a smack (around 4:45). Oh, just watch it.

Before the fight, McNeeley famously vowed to wrap Tyson up in a "cocoon of horror". The only silk on Tyson, however, was his trunks, as McNeeley's corner threw in the towel after 89 seconds after their fighter courageously charged at Tyson from the opening bell, but was dropped within seconds.

Surely the inspiration for the Simpsons episode where Homer fights Dredrick Tatum, the fight made a record $63 million in pay-per-view purchases in the US and grossed $96 million worldwide.

It is alleged in this excellent article that there were more shady reasons than McNeeley's safety for the early finish to the fight - not that it would've lasted a whole lot longer.
