So this is a story all about how a horse got punched by an ageing Newcastle "fan" in the aftermath of his team's surrender to the invading force of Paolo Di Canio. You have likely read about Bud the horse and his plight in the immediate aftermath of going toe to hoof with a member of the riot that took place in England's North East on Sunday last. Bud is doing just great and basked in the spotlight on Monday morning. Now what for the scarf faced rioter, well he has had a few days to calm down and think about what he has done. Time enough to think of an apology, some reasoning, a charitable contribution to Bud, an offer to live in stables for a week.. no not this guy, he has decided to go with the stronger line that Bud started it.

“This one particular horse was spooked by a firecracker and charged at me, that’s when I panicked and threw a punch at the horse.

I tried to get him away from me with my left hand and then punched him with my right, it was sheer panic.

It was an instant reaction, I didn't go out to attack a horse. I’d like to apologise to the horse, to the mounted section and to the people of the north east.”

The man in question, Barry Rogerson adds insult to injury by refusing to refer to the horse by his name, Bud. In a further twist to the tale, Rogerson claimed that he had covered his face with a scarf because he had a filling done.

Please form an orderly queue to get details for this guy's lawyer...
