Gennady Golovkin returns to the boxing ring tonight as he continues his comeback after suffering the sole defeat of his professional career against Canelo Alvarez last Spetember.

Since then, he beat Steve Rolls with ease and his opponent tonight is seen by many as just another step on his way back towards the top. But despite what the betting market suggests, Sergiy Derevyanchenko could put it up to the Kazakh fighter according to Jason Quigley.

The Ukrainian boxer has only one loss on his record and that came against the highly-regarded Daniel Jacobs via a split decision. On the evidence of that bout, Quigley believes he saw enough to give the underdog a chance tonight in New York.

Nobody wants to fight him but I'm so happy that the rules are in place from the IBF that the mandatory has to get his shot. Because everybody knows that boxing is a business too at the end of the day...and he just doesn't have that type of a draw. He isn't that type of fighter. But he has the capability and he has the talent.

I think this is going to be a very, very entertaining fight - because the two of them aren't sluggers but the two of them aren't boxers either. They like to keep that mid-range, that middle distance, and use mainly power shots. They both have very similar styles.

If Derevyanchenko can take Golovkin's power I think the fight could go the whole way and I think it could be a very close one on the scorecards.

I think Derevyanchenko is definitely going to cause a massive threat for Golovkin. If anybody wants to take a chance, Derevyanchenko is a massive bet.

Elsewhere on the undercard at Madison Square Garden, Westmeath native Joe Ward will make his professional debut against Marco Delgado.
