Bernard Hopkins Knocked Out Of The Ring In The Final Fight Of His Career

Bernard Hopkins lost the final fight of his career by being knocked out of the ring by Joe Smith Jr. at The Forum in Inglewood California.

It was the first stoppage loss of the 51-year-old's career.

In the eighth round, with Hopkins possibly ahead on the judges' scorecards, Smith Jr. landed a combination of punches which resulted in Hopkins falling out of the ring.

Hopkins hurt his ankle in the fall and was unable to continue the fight. Smith Jr. was declared winner by TKO.

Immediately post-fight, Hopkins claimed that he had been pushed out of the ring. However, all shots looked clean in replays shown afterwards.

The bout against the 27-year-old Smith Jr. was billed as the final fight of Hopkins's career.
