Not only did Michael O'Reilly beat world middleweight champion Zhanubek Alimhunaly in his quarter-final today but his Team Ireland teammate Michael Conlan created his own little piece of boxing history with victory over Tayfur Aliyev.
The team captain is now also guaranteed a medal, meaning his is the first Irish boxer in history to win, World, Olympic, Commonwealth and European medals.
