After Katie Taylor's defeat in the quarter-final in Rio, Irish head boxing coach Zaur Antia was interviewed on RTÉ.

Antia was adamant that Taylor had won the fight, which the judges scored as a split decision in favour of her Finnish opponent Mira Potkonen.

She won the fight. First round she won. Second round was very close. Could be both sides. Third and fourth round, she won the fight. She had good skills, side steps, clean punches. What can she do?

When RTÉ's Joe Stack put it to Antia that the long wait some Irish boxers had for their fights may have been a factor, the Irish head coach reiterated his feeling that Taylor had won.

One more time I will say to you - she did not lose the fight. That's it. No matter about a long time waiting or not. She can't kill that girl. That girl is a good boxer. Boxing is growing. Every fight will be very close. You have to take what you deserve.

Nobody can convince me that Katie lost this fight.
