'Ireland Cry Foul', that is genuinely the headline that the Zimbabwe Herald went with to respond to the controversy caused by their sickening article concerning John Mooney's battles with alcohol addiction. Robson Sharuko is seemingly a lot of things which we won't mention but 'wind up merchant' is certainly somewhere near the top of the list.

The journalist behind the now infamous article concerning Mooney has today penned an almost unbelievable response to the furore which he caused by calling Cricket Ireland's castigation of his article 'a vicious attack' on his newspaper.

The dramatic fallout relating to Ireland's controversial win over Zimbabwe continued to play out with Irish Cricket authorities launching a vicious attack on the Herald for questioning all rounder John Mooney's honesty in the wake of his ghost catch that knocked the Chevrons out of the World Cup.

Now usually when you mess up as a journalist, you hold your hands up and hope you don't get sued. Not if you work for the Zimbabwe Herald it seems.

Rather than address the highly offensive things which were written in the original article, Sharuko has gone with an altogether different tactic.

On Monday, The Herald questioned how Mooney could be trusted to make an honest call, in such a high-stakes incident, against the background of the cricketer's recent battles with alcohol abuse and depression.

However that article appears to have angered Cricket Ireland chiefs who pledged to take action against the newspaper and revealed they had also approached the International Cricket Council to seek redress.

He then goes on, in a boastful fashion, to quote the Independent and the Examiner (who are mostly quoting him), in a manner which would suggest that he is delighted with himself for the uproar he has caused.
