The Irish Twitter Reaction To England Getting Knocked Out Of The Cricket World Cup

Last summer gave birth to something that threatened to tear the Irish nation apart at the seams. On one hand you had those who enjoyed the British twitter reaction to hurling, on the other, you had those that seemed to hate it more than Oliver Cromwell sailing up the Liffey on the HMS Victory while singing God Save The Queen (historically inaccurate, but you get the point).

The argument against these posts went along the lines of 'why do we need our heads patted to tell us our games are great'. And that's a perfectly fine point of view. Everyone can't agree on these things, and just for some balance, here's the Irish twitter reaction to the wonderful news that England have been turfed out of the Cricket World Cup following their 15 run defeat to Bangladesh.

Plenty were keen to point out that this officially means Ireland are the best cricket side in Europe (and the western hemisphere). The majority just wanted to gloat.

Then, there was the whole issue of Eoin Morgan. Quite a few people were happy to make the 'secret agent Morgan' joke.

While others were happy to see him struggle.

And more were hoping that he could come back home.

(Not a reaction from Ireland, but it seemed like it should be included)

So, everyone staying up until 1 am to watch Ireland take on India tonight? #BackingGreen
