A New Zealand TV journalist ate chilies live on air after he promised to do so in an ill-advised tweet.

Lachlan Forsyth tweeted his intention to eat three "insanity peppers as tribute" (sic) if his country's cricket team pulled of an unlikely win over India in the first test at Eden Park. In a high-scoring cracker, the Black Caps managed to do just that.

He did the deed in the presence of players Tim Southee and Neil Wagner, and held it together pretty well given the circumstances.

He claimed in a follow-up tweet that the peppers had been injected with the terrifyingly-named "ultimate insanity hot sauce", which apparently should only be used one drop at a time.

You have to admire him for sticking to his end of the bargain.
