Appearing on the Indo Daily podcast, journalist and ex-cyclist Paul Kimmage gave a brilliantly candid and expletive laden account of his infamous press-conference incident with Lance Armstrong.

The matter in question occurred in 2009, prior to the Tour of California and not long after Lance Armstrong made his return to cycling.

Kimmage asked Armstrong what he admired about certain cyclists who had doped, including Floyd Landis, which Armstrong did not take kindly to, reminding Kimmage that he had labelled him as the 'cancer' of the sport.

"Go into that room and just kick him," said Kimmage on the Indo Daily. "Straight in the fucking balls. That's the only thing this guy is going to respect. Go in, sit down, and go for him, from the first question.

"So I'm sitting in a big auditorium at the press-conference, so I stick up my hand, and the microphone comes to me and I ask the question.

And he absolutely rips the shit out of me, Jesus. It's kind of tough, I didn't expect him to come at me, that he would come at me so strong.

Talk about the knock-out blow and I'm there sitting and listening to this shite. Then I think 'fuck you, right give me the microphone back. I'm not taking this fucking shit.' But of course, no no no no no, there's no way you're coming back on this.

"What is it about these dopers you seem to admire so much?" Kimmage asked Armstrong in 2009.

"I'm here to fight this disease," replied Armstrong. "You are not worth the chair that you're sitting on with a statement like that with a disease that touches everybody around the world."

"I think it goes without saying, no, we're not going to sit down and do an interview. And I don't think anybody in this room would sit down for that interview."
