Sam Bennett is on the verge of history tomorrow. He has a commanding lead in the race for the green jersey at the 2020 Tour de France, hoping to become the first Irishman since Sean Kelly in 1989 to win the prize.
The Waterford man has an all but unassailable lead in the race, having 319 points in comparison to second-placed Peter Segan's 264.
Speaking after today's time trial stage in which he finished 131st, Bennett is not taking tomorrow's final stage for granted despite his enviable position.

I'm still cautious, I still I have one more day. I'm not going to celebrate until tomorrow evening when we bring it home, if we bring it home.
But today I'm happy that I got inside the time limit. I had to sit and wait for two or three hours praying that I stayed inside the time limit so I could get to Paris.
I'm looking forward to tomorrow...
There's going to be two steps tomorrow: intermediate and the final sprint. Hopefully we can start celebrating...
It's going to be a dream arriving into the Champs Elysses wearing the green jersey, it's going to be an amazing experience.
If I could manage to win there in green it would be amazing but everybody wants to win there.
