Callan Rydz has continued his sensational run at the World's premier darts competition, defeating Robert Owen 4-3 in a close encounter at the Alexandra Palace.

His win on Monday evening now means the world number 43 has booked his spot in the quarter-finals of the 2025 World Darts Championship.

Despite conceding his first set of the tournament early in his game with Owen, and going two sets down minutes later, the raucous Ally Pally crowd helped The Riot back into the contest as he claimed three straight sets to lead Owen 3-2.

While Robert Owen once again managed to find his early form and claim the sixth set, a cool, calm and collected Rydz held on to claim the decisive seventh set and a last 16 Ally Pally victory.

Rydz had an unphased response to Ally Pally 'banter'

As we've come to expect, the enthralling on-stage performance at the iconic venue was met with just as impressive a performance from the crowd who were in flying form.

While there was little doubt that it was Rydz the vocal Ally Pally were behind, the Newcastle man wasn't spared any slagging, with his haircut proving the crowd's victim of choice.

As Rydz played out a thriller, the crowd could be heard chanting "He’s got shit hair but we don’t care, Callan Callan Rydz

While mere mortals may have been upset, Callan Rydz is a seasoned darter and told the media after the game that he can give it just as good as he gets it.

Loads of people back home, my best friends, they rip the mick out of it.

The crowd won me that game, I didn't win it.

I'm all for the banter, I can give it to them as much as they can give it to me if I meet them individually. I love the banter with them and I think they won me this game.

It wasn't only the fans jumping on Rydz's hair either, with a rogue wasp quite literally planting itself atop the Darters' head as well - the incident unbeknownst to nobody except him.

Callan Rydz is now through to the quarter-finals of the World Darts Championship for just the second time, where he'll be joined by the likes of Peter Wright and Gerwyn Price competing for a coveted semi-final place.

Rydz has reached this stage of the competition just once before in 2022 when Peter Wright was the man to send him packing, however, this year The Riot looks to be in absolutely flying form and his fans are certainly starting to believe that anything is possible.
