Luke Littler has enjoyed a remarkable rise to fame in recent months and has already established himself as a core member of the PDC's touring darts crew.

The 17-year-old burst onto the scene at last year's PDC World Darts Championship, where he sensationally reached the final after defeating the likes of Rob Cross and Raymond van Barneveld. Though he would ultimately lose out to Luke Humphries in that final, he earned himself a place on the Premier League circuit as a result of his exploits at Ally Pally, meaning he will have further shots at darts' biggest names in the weeks and months to come.

Littler has also become a crucial part of darts' publicity drive of late - and he had a cheeky dig at experienced Welshman Gerwyn Price in a recent feature on Sky Sports' YouTube channel.

Luke Littler has cheeky call out for Gerwyn Price

Price has a reputation for being somewhat hotheaded and outspoken. He has previously clashed with audience members at Premier League events (including in Dublin) and has been called out by his fellow pros for questionable remarks.

Only in December, he raised eyebrows when he called for the World Darts Championship to be moved away from its iconic home of Alexandra Palace, complaining that the venue's monopoly over the event was robbing players of the opportunity to play closer to home (Price is from a Welsh town just over three hours away).

Given his history of outspoken comments, it was only natural that Price's name would be mentioned once or twice when the Premier League's best were asked to name the biggest moaner in darts - and Luke Littler had a cheeky pop at him for a recent social media post after the pair had faced each other.

Littler defeated Price in the semi-finals of both the Bahrain Darts Masters and the Dutch Darts Masters and, after one of those defeats, Price took to social media to play down his defeat. When asked to name the biggest moaner in darts, Littler chose Price, dismissing the Welshman's remarks on their recent clash:

I'd probably go with Gezzy, Gerwyn Price.

Even when I beat him, he went on Instagram and said, 'if someone could give me a double, I'd win every game!'

I just thought, 'okay...'

That the youngster has only been part of the tour a few weeks and has already become aware of Price's moaning is a humorous example of how prevalent it must be, even behind the scenes.

Littler was not the only player to choose Gerwyn Price, with Rob Cross also joking about the 2021 World Champion's tendency to moan:

Gezzy likes moaning. The other day, he missed a few doubles. I had to get the world's smallest violin out, it's not good for business.

Several other names were mentioned - with Gary Anderson, another character famed for contentious outbursts, chosen by more than one player.

Luke Littler himself was given a shoutout later in the segment when players were asked to name the rival they would most like to swap places with. Nathan Aspinall named Littler as his choice, and his reasoning was a hilarious example of just how young the newcomer is compared to his rivals:

Luke Littler. Not for the fame, not for anything else - for the fact that he has absolutely no responsibilities in life whatsoever, he hasn't got kids to go home to, he can go home, get into bed, watch telly, play FIFA or do whatever a 17-year-old lad does. Luke, because he's got no responsibilites.

Littler, Aspinall, Cross, and Price were all in action on Thursday night on night two of the Premier League Darts season in Berlin.

Price and Aspinall were eliminated in the quarter-finals, with Littler defeating Cross at the same stage before reaching the final, where he faced Michael van Gerwen.

After a thrilling night of darts, van Gerwen would prevail, moving himself up to second in the standings behind night one winner Michael Smith. Littler stands in third place, with the only 100+ average of any of the eight Premier League players.
