Every now and again I like to come back to one of my favourite Ted Talks ever. Again, in the wake of last night's brilliant achievement by the Ireland team, I think the words of John Wooden are poignant.

This Irish side have yet again punched above their weight in qualifying for the Euros. Perhaps it will not go as we hoped in France next summer but in my eyes, us merely qualifying is a great success.

As Wooden - a 10 time NCAA winning basketball coach with UCLA - points out:

Success is peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to do your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.

John has since sadly passed away but has left a remarkable legacy.
