If you've watched any WWE at all in recent years, then you will have seen Michael Cole on your TV at some point. Or maybe you didn't actually see him, but you definitely heard him, as he is now the voice of televised WWE.

As someone who hasn't watched much WWE since the days of Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock, I knew Michael Cole as the nerdy guy who held the microphone while WWE Superstars cut their ridiculous promos, but his role steadily increased over the years which eventually led to him taking over from Jim Ross on the commentary table.

All those extra eyes on him made Cole self conscious about his body image, and as he told WWE.com, he decided to do something about it:

All factors came together at once last October; getting older, being on television on a weekly basis, my metabolism slowing down, being unhappy when I looked at myself in the mirror and my energy wasn’t what it used to be.

All of those things combined made me realize that I needed to make some life changes.

And so he did.

Cole enlisted the help of a personal trainer, and instantly began to lose weight while doing cardio and sticking to a simple diet:

I’m working with a trainer out of McAllen, Texas, named Jesse Marines. He put together a basic program for me to begin with where I was doing cardio two to three times a week and doing weight training with him two to three times a week. He gave me a simple diet to follow and since my diet was so awful, it was pretty easy.

The results were immediate as Cole revealed he lost 10 pounds in each of the first two months, and eventually graduated to weight training which is responsible for his impressive physique today.

As I saw the progress and saw my body change, I really got into the program. Jesse started tweaking my diet, increasing my cardio and changing my weight training to the point where this has become part of my daily life whether I’m with Jesse at home or on the road.

I’m an obsessive compulsive in many ways and when I set my mind to something, I don’t stop until the job is done. Now that I’ve reached my goal, I don’t want to stop.

So there you have it. By getting advice from a professional and starting with something simple, once you see the results start to materialise it's easy to get addicted to bettering yourself. At least it was for Michael Cole, and now he is absolutely ripped. If you're still considering going on that diet or starting a gym program, we'll leave you with this final word from the voice of the WWE:

I feel better now at 48 years old than I did at 21 years old.
