World's Strongest Man Reveals Diet That Puts The Rock To Shame

It’s said that the average male takes in about 2,500 calories a day, but of course bigger boys will need bigger meals, and if you're looking to compete in the World's Strongest Man competition then you would want to consider a little bit more than an extra egg or two with your breakfast.

To put your average person's 2,500 calories into context, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson’s diet is said to be about 5,000-6,000 calories a day, but even The Rock is made to look like a scrawny child when compared to The World's Strongest Man Brian Shaw.

Shaw has picked up ‘The World’s Strongest Man Title’ on 4 occasions and has been placed in the top 4 every year since 2009. This week he gave an insight into exactly how much he eats in a single day and it’s more than 4 times what your average Joe Soap consumes.

We're really not sure that consuming over 12,000 calories a day is very healthy, but Shaw seems to be making it work for him.

His meal plans consist of the exact things you would expect, it has your usual mass amount of eggs and protein shakes but the American somehow manages to fit 6 meals with each meal being close to what you or I would have over the whole day.

Oddly enough the strongman says he has days when he would still feel hungry.

Some days I can’t get enough, I’m hungry, I’m hungry, I’m hungry, but other days I have times when I’m not and if I don’t eat for 2 hours then I have to just force the food.

Eating for me is the hardest part because it’s constant and you don’t ever stop literally from when you wake up until you go to bed, and then I get up and do it all day again

People think the training is the hard part, it’s not really. That’s fun, I can get loose and do what I want to do.

I only get to train for a few hours, maybe during the day, but this (eating) is all day so it’s constant but it’s a necessary evil.

Shaw’s first meal of cereal and eggs is 1,300 calories alone, and hour later he’ll have a protein shake (80gs) with granola bars and peanut butter, another hour passes and he moves on to meat and pasta, and before lunch time he has already had twice as much as the average person would in a day.

Then Shaw hits the shakes and peanut butter again with some almond milk and blueberries because that still wasn’t enough calories, turkey and rice follows next before Shaw starts to count up his calories again, while he’s eating his 5th meal he’s planning out his 6th and once he finished he takes trip out to a pizzeria for more pasta and meatballs amounting to 3,500 calories alone.

To top it off he goes back to the protein shake and has a just the 4 slices of cheesecake on the side, although he says he’d normally only have 3.

As you can see there’s 4 left, I’m not going to leave one so may as well finish that off, I feel like that’s the right choice to make. After I consume this that will leave us at 12,020 calories.
