Kevin Doyle's Crystal Palace Loan Spell Not Extended

Just hours after fellow Irishman Kevin Foley left Wolves to join FC Copenhagen, Kevin Doyle has found himself back at the Championship club after his loan spell with Crystal Palace came to an end and the London club chose not to renew the deal. During his time at Palace, the 31 year old managed just three substitute appearances in the Premier League, while scoring his only goal for the club in a 4-0 FA Cup win against Dover.

Doyle is the last of the major Irish internationals to remain at the club, with Kevin Foley, Stephen Hunt, Andy Keogh and Stephen Ward having all left Molineux since Euro 2012.

Doyle has previously seen his playing time limited under Wolves boss Kenny Jackett and faces a struggle to find his way back into the team. Quoted in The Guardian, Doyle said;

I am more than happy to play if selected but I haven’t been in the manager’s plans, so I’m not sure what will happen. I haven’t spoken to anybody at the club about it and all I know is the date [19 January] I have to report back.

Having been at QPR for the second half of last season, it’s been a year since I’ve been at Wolves, so I’m not sure what to expect. If another club wants to take me on loan, I would consider it if I’m not going to play at Wolves.

It appears as though Doyle is aware his best chance of regular team football is with another club and will surely seek an urgent move away.
