Whether you call it football or soccer really depends on what part of Ireland you're from. Conor McGregor calls it football and he let one journalist at today's media event at Convention Centre in Dublin know that.

Asked how much the power in Jose Aldo's leg kicks has been enhanced by his time playing Brazil's favourite sport, McGregor first corrected the reporter and then dismissed the idea that it gives the title holder an advantage.

You're Irish mate, yeah, it's called football over here.

This is mixed martial arts. This isn't football. You know what I mean, you can kick a ball, that doesn't play into a fight. I can also play football.

So GAA isn't the only sport that gets credited for giving someone an advantage in a different code.
