Big news out of Germany this morning, as several credible media sources have suggested that everyone's favourite German, Jurgen Klopp, has asked Borussia Dortmund to cancel his contract as manager of the club.

Dortmund have had a terrible season in the Bundesliga this year, and looked to be in a battle to stay in the top-flight until Christmas, when their form picked up slightly.

Currently sitting in 10th place with just nine wins from 28 games, this season has been a disaster for a club who would have considered themselves to be Bayern Munich's main rivals in the race for the title back when the campaign began.

And now it seems that Jurgen Klopp has decided that it is time to move on. After Bild first broke story, other respected journalists have suggested that they beleive it to be true, and Rafael Honigstein has confirmed that BVB are to hold a press conference at 12.30, which will almost certainly announce Klopp's plans to leave at the end of the season.

So what now for Jurgen Klopp? Many Bundesliga journalists are speculating that he will ask for time off, to take a break from management, which is understandable considering how much passion he invests in his work. Expect to see links to any big club who are not totally satisfied with the current manager, such as Manchester City, but a Pep Guardiola-style sabbatical to re-energise seems the most likely option.

One thing is for sure, if Klopp does indeed take time out of the game, he will have no shortage of high-profile suitors when he announces he is ready to return.

For Borussia Dortmund, the name being touted as a replacement is an exciting young manager by the name of Thomas Tuchel, who worked under Klopp at Mainz and then took over as first team manager after his departure for Dortmund. Tuchel has drawn many comparisons to Klopp, and would certainly be seen as the logical replacement if BVB wish to continue the form they had shown in the seasons before this year's underwhelming campaign.
