A young Leicester City fan and his 10-year-old nephew found themselves stranded in Liverpool after their recent Premier League match. With no money nor a way home, he reached out to the Liverpool Reddit for help. A kind Liverpool fan came to their rescue...
The Leicester fan had posted under the username LCFCRyan, telling the story of how they were stuck with no money after the taxi brought them to the wrong station:
To cut this long story short, I spent the last of my spending money on a cab to the wrong train station. We had to walk all the way from the airport back to the city, there were no buses running which was strange. By the time we got back to lime street our train had departed and there were no other trains leaving to London until tomorrow.
He asked if anyone knew of an indoor public place where he and his nephew could rest for the night. However, Reddit user OfficePlum came back with more help than they could have wished for:
Wait near the main entrance to Lime Street (the entrance facing the big TV screen) and I'll give you the money for a hotel room and a taxi so you can get there safety. I'll be there in about 15 minutes.
OfficePlum added 'It was the least I could do for you both. Shitty taxi drivers like that give the city a bad name. Have a safe journey home.'
Needless to say, many people lauded OfficePlum for his gesture, including the eternally grateful LCFCRyan and his nephew's mother. She collected the pair in Liverpool the following day and they then donated twice the price of their hotel room to a local homeless charity and also made a donation to the JFT96 charity.
Fair play to OfficePlum. His kindness has helped a lot of people out.
