The quarterfinals of the Champions League begin this week as we're down to the last eight clubs competing for the top prize in European club football. There is some very interesting ties ahead and we've made a form guide for each team heading into this round to see who could be the heading into the semi-finals.

Champions League Form Guide

Liverpool-Benfica

Liverpool

Liverpool are still on their hunt to overtake Manchester City in the Premier League and for a couple of hours on Saturday, they did that. In the early kick-off on Saturday Liverpool beat Watford 2-0 at Anfield in a match where they weren't firing on all cylinders, but were good enough to comfortably beat the Hornets. They've still only lost one game in all competitions since the New Year and it looks like they won't be losing another match anytime soon.

Benfica

It wasn't a good weekend for Benfica as they lost 3-2 away against Sporting Braga. They actually went 2-o down early but substitutes Darwin Nunez and Joao Mario both scored quickly to salvage the game, or so they thought. Braga got the winner with ten minutes to go as Benfica now sit 12 points off Porto. It was their first loss in ten games and it's not the form they want to be in heading into a match against Liverpool.

Manchester City-Atletico Madrid

Manchester City

City may have lost their spot on top of the Premier League table for a brief moment but they swiftly took their spot back with a 2-0 away win against Burnley. There was no complications in the performance as Kevin de Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan both got on the scoresheet. They face Liverpool next weekend in what will be a title decider and a match against Atletico Madrid isn't exactly what you want just a few days before that match.

Atleti continued their winning streak at home on the weekend as they beat Deportivo Alaves 4-1 at the Wanda Metropolitano. Both Joao Felix and Luis Suarez got braces as Atleti have now won their last six games in a row now and have slowly climbed up the La Liga table. They're now level on points with Barcelona in second place at time of writing as they look to qualify for the Champions League next season. Atletico will be without centre back Jose Maria Gimenez as they Uruguayan picked up an injury against Alaves.

Chelsea-Real Madrid

Chelsea

Chelsea had been very impressive the last few weeks given the drama going on behind the scenes at the club but on the weekend there was even more shock on the pitch as they lost 4-1 at home to Brentford. Chelsea actually took the lead early in the second half but Brentford scored three goals in ten minutes and then one towards the end of the match to surprisingly win at the Bridge. It was their first home loss since September and they'll hope they won't have another one this week at home to Real Madrid.

Real Madrid

Real Madrid bounced back from their 4-0 loss in El Classico with 2-1 win away against Celta de Vigo that saw Real given three penalties and benefit from a disallowed goal. A penalty from Karim Benzema 20 minutes from the end was enough for the win as Real are now 12 points clear on top of La Liga. Real went out at this stage against Chelsea last season so they'll be looking out to get revenge this time around.

Vilarreal-Bayern Munich

Vilarreal

Since beating Juventus 3-0 in Turin, Vilarreal have had a torrid time domestically. They've lost their last two games in the league against relegation-battling clubs Cadiz and Levante. These two defeats were deserved as well as Unai Emery's side were outperformed by their lesser rivals. it's certainly not what you want ahead of a tie against Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich

Bayern had a comprehensive 4-1 win away against high-flying SC Freiburg. All the goals came in the second half as three goals in the last 20 minutes put the game out of sight. However there was a bit of confusion five minutes from the end as Bayern briefly played the game with 12 men on the field. The Bundesliga are investigating the situation but they could face a points deduction.

We're beginning to reach the business end of the Champions League and we can't wait to see what drama it has in store for us.
