Recently on Balls.ie we have been taking the time to compile photo tributes of Irish international football legends, and this time we're focusing on a Preston born lad who bled green blood.

Kevin Daniel Kilbane (although his middle name would later be unofficially changed to Zinedine for footballing reasons) made his debut for Ireland against Iceland in 1997, and would go on to enjoy a 14 year career with the boys in green, working his arse off down the left flank in a number of different positions for a number of different managers.

He always gave his all, he rarely missed a call-up, and put in some terrific performances in the Irish jersey. Kevin Kilbane, we salute you.

He started out young.

But he quickly found his feet.

He wasn't a huge fan of Turkey.

He liked Iran better.

He wasn't afraid of anyone.

An iconic image here.

But Dean Kiely was absolutely petrified of him!

Proud owner of the goofiest World Cup squad photo ever.

But he played a blinder against Cameroon.

Spain was a tough time for him.

But as always, he bounced right back.

He even taught Duffer a thing or two!

His technique was flawless.

And he truly mastered the art of the throw-in.

He also loved the odd glancing header.

He stood up to pure evil.

Dudu Aouate, what a pain in the arse.

Like our very own super-hero.

He picked up a few awards in his time.

And of course he wore the armband.

When he spoke, others listened.

And who could forget his role in Paris?

Unmistakable.

What a legend.
