Who here remembers Alex Manninger? The 39-year-old Austrian hasn't really been thought of by many in Ireland or the UK after he decided he didn't want to be Arsenal's back-up anymore in 2002.

The Austrian keeper only made 30 appearances for the Gunners, before moving on to ten different clubs. He made Austria's Euro 2008 squad, but has mostly been a backup for Juventus and Augsburg in the last eight years.

The 39-year-old hasn't retired, but is set to complete a one-year deal with Liverpool according to the Echo. Manninger has been training with the Reds at their training complex in Melwood after being released from Augsburg, and flew with the squad to America on Thursday.

It seems that Manninger has done enough to earn a contract with the club, and will be the third choice keeper providing experience to the squad - behind Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet - with Adam Bogdan leaving the team.
