Juventus threaten to complete a historic week for the Champions League comebacks with two early goals against Real Madrid having come into the leg 3-0 down.

A huge amount of credit for the early lead must go down to Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri, who twice has made a tactically brilliant move which contributed to a two-goal swing.

Against Tottenham, Stephan Lichtsteiner was introduced after just under half an hour allowing the Juventus full-backs to push up out wide and expose Tottenham's pressing full-backs. Against Real Madrid, he did it again, replacing the more conservative full-back Mattia De Sciglio.

Both goals came thanks to Mario Mandžukić, with Lichtsteiner playing a crucial role in the second.

Lichtsteiner's positioning wide on the flank gave the Italian side much-needed width which he subsequently utilised to skip past Marcelo and deliver a cross towards the back post.
Allegri has always been a dedicated tactical analyst, utilising a three at the back in Seria A this year to cater to a middle three of Pjanić-Sami Khedira-Blaise Matuidi but reverting to a 4-4-2 at times in the Champions League.
Speaking on RTE Sport, Dietmar Hamann praised the Italian boss for making a brave, and somewhat unpopular, decision so early in the game but the manner of the first leg ensured a gamble was necessary.
