Gabriel Batistuta spent most of his professional career at Fiorentina banging in goals for La Viola and on Monday evening he was up to his old tricks. He took part in a match called “La Partita del Cuore” – where the Italian national team of singers took on a group of ex professionals.

Players like Luca Toni, Antonio Di Natale and Rino Gattuso were outshone by the 45-year-old power-house who put on an exhibition from the very first minute, scoring twice - the first, an absolute howitzer came inside 5 minutes.

Batistuta has spent most of his retirement slowly morphing into David Ginola who would be envious of this strike. Ginola also took part in a charity match recently but Howard Webb stole the headlines.
