Harry Maguire’s disappointing season continued as his errors cost England in a 3-3 draw with Germany in the Nations League.

After losing his place in Manchester United’s side after two defeats in the opening games of the season, Maguire had the chance to redeem himself as Gareth Southgate picked him to start in England’s two games.

However, the defender did not reward his manager for his faith, with individual errors leading to two of Germany’s three goals.

It seems some supporters have had enough of Harry Maguire, with one fan in particular giving a tactical breakdown of the player's errors to his rather uninterested girlfriend.

Maguire Apology

It has been quite the downfall for Harry Maguire, who was seen as a hero in England a couple of years ago. The centre-back made headlines for his displays in the 2018 World Cup, also making the Team of the Tournament at Euro 2020.

However, a dramatic dip in his form has seen him lose his place at club level, with Manchester United looking more solid since his removal from the starting 11.

Despite not playing regularly, Southgate decided to start him ahead of the likes of Ben white and Fikayo Tomori. That decision seemed to backfire.

Following last night’s draw, Maguire issued an apology for his mistakes in last nights game.

Mistakes are part of the game, I apologise.

Great fight back and spirit to get us back into the game by the lads. Take the positives and look forward to Qatar. Tough times will make us stronger.

His Manchester United teammate Luke Shaw is also in a similar situation having lost his place at Old Trafford.

He admitted that is it was hard not to have some sympathy for Maguire at the moment.

He is an amazing player and an amazing character. He’s taken a lot of stick, probably more than I’ve ever seen before in my life.

At the moment the confidence might not be there because it could feel like the whole world is against him.

It seems unlikely that Harry Maguire will be back in the Manchester United team anytime soon, but Gareth Southgate seems determined to keep him in the England side.

That could well come back to bite him when the World Cup rolls around.
