It must be said, Irish interest in the transfer window is usually confined to the lower reaches of the Premier League. It's a fact of life at the moment that Irish internationals are unlikely to be on the shopping list of Europe's top clubs. Except for Seamus Coleman that is.
Earlier this week, it became clear that PSG were seriously taking a look at the Killybegs man to fill a slot much coveted spot in the French capital. Now, it looks like they are going to have a bit of competition in the last couple of days of the transfer window.
The Star are reporting that Bayern Munich have made it clear that they are ready to challenge PSG with a bid of £18 million for the Irish international. It seems Guardiola and the powers that be in Bavaria have been keeping an eye on Coleman since January, and now that PSG have made their interest known, things have kicked into gear.
Whether Everton allow Coleman to leave is another matter entirely. They have fought tooth and nail to keep John Stones despite an offer of over £30 million from Chelsea. However, it seems PSG have anticipated that and are willing to sweeten the deal with Gregory Van Der Wiel thrown in as a sweetener to entice the Toffees to allow Coleman to depart Goodison.
Seeing Coleman bombing down the right flank in the Champions League would be great to see from an Irish perspective so there'll certainly be a lot of interest in this potential deal over the next couple of days.
