There is usually fireworks on display whenever Chelsea host Spurs at Stamford Bridge.

The two have taken part in some ill-tempered contest over the years, and with Antonio Conte returning to the ground, it was always likely that this could be the case once again this afternoon.

Chelsea were utterly dominant for the majority of the game, taking the lead in the 19th minute thanks to a stunning volley from Kalidou Koulibaly.

The visitors were lucky to find themselves only one goal down going into the interval.

Antonio Conte & Thomas Tuchel clash at Stamford Bridge

Despite being completely outplayed for the opening hour or so, Spurs would soon find themselves level.

The goal came from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, with the midfielder long range effort managing to just squeeze by the outstretched arm of Edouard Mendy.

The camera would quickly pan towards the sideline, where Antonio Conte and Thomas Tuchel became involved in an altercation.

Both managers would be booked following the incident.

It is not clear what sparked the altercation, but it's Tuchel was unhappy that foul had not been given after a tackle on Kai Havertz in the buildup to the goal. When he approach the fourth official, it seems as though he took exception to a comment from his Italian counterpart.

While Spurs would have been hoping to push on from here, it was Chelsea that thought they had grabbed the winner.

It came via Reece James, with Tuchel running down the sideline in front of the Spurs dugout in celebration.

The end of the game was rather feisty, with players from both sides becoming involved in clashes with the opposition.

Just when it looked like the contest was over, Harry Kane popped up with a header deep into injury time to earn a draw for his side.

Considering the way the contest had went, it always seemed likely to boil over after the final whistle. As the two managers went to shake hands, Tuchel once again took exception to something that Conte did.

The pair would have to be separated once again, with the pair receiving second yellow cards and getting themselves sent off.

The German would reveal after the game that he was unhappy because Conte did not look into his eyes when the pair shook hands.

Pure drama.

We're already looking forward to the return fixture later in the season.
