Most who tuned in to FC Koln vs Arsenal in the Europa League on Thursday night were left questioning their life choices as a painfully boring game of football played out at the RheinEnergieStadion.

It took an hour to bring about the first talking point of the game as Mathieu Debuchy - who most could be forgiven for forgetting that he still played for Arsenal - gave away a penalty which was dispatched by Sehrou Guirassy.

And that was it. The home side - who currently sit bottom of the Bundesliga - managed to hold on for a 1-0 win which will delight their fans, but for those who align themselves with the Gunners, there was far less to shout about.

One thing that has proven popular on social media is a clip where both supporters united in their opinion that Tottenham Hotspur are shit. Despite the fact that Spurs beat Borussia Dortmund earlier in the week just a few weeks after toppling Real Madrid, the fans at both ends of the grounds echoed 'Tottenham are shit' back and forth when it became clear that the football was not going to offer much by the way of entertainment.

The irony of supporters watching their team lose 1-0 in the Europa League to the team bottom of the Bundesliga and calling another team shit can't be ignored, but then again, football songs rarely need factual evidence to support them.

If anything, it's nice to see Arsenal and Cologne fans get along with other after the issues that resulted in the reverse fixture being delayed. We can only assume Jack Wilshere, who started in midfield for Arsenal, enjoyed a grin to himself while that took place.
