Arsene Wenger has claimed Arsenal have a ‘good chance’ of being crowned Premier League champions this season.

Since Arsene Wenger left the club in 2018, they have failed to even reach the Champions League, with Unai Emery leaving the club after 18 months.

While Mikel Arteta has showed signs of improvement since taking over the squad in 2020, he has brought them on to another level in the last year, with younger players Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka stepping up to the plate, and Arsenal looking far more organised defensively, while also playing an attractive brand of football they have been known for.

He also hasn’t been afraid to make tough decisions, with senior players Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lazarette and Mesut Ozil making way, while younger players such as Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel Martinelli have impressed when given their opportunity.

If it wasn’t for a poor run of results towards the end of last season, they would have secured Champions League football for the first time in six years.

While it may be early in the season, Arsene Wenger, who won three Premier League titles as Arsenal manager, spoke to Sky Sports and claims they can win their first title since 2004 and doesn’t believe any side will dominate the league.

“They have a good chance this season, because I don’t see any super dominating team. I believe that there is a good opportunity this season to do it.

Of course it’s a little bit of a special season as well with the World Cup in the middle, you don’t know how much that will affect the performances of the players and the teams.

I believe there is a good opportunity there this year.”

Should Arsenal make a serious title challenge this season, or even go a step further and win the competition, it would be a huge change to Manchester City’s dominance over recent years.

Aside from Liverpool, no side has managed to even challenge Pep Guardiola’s side, as they attempt to win their third league title in a row.
