The Off The Ball show was the scene of a major dust-up between Roddy Collins and Ger O'Brien last night, with Stuart Byrne also weighing in to vigorously dispute Roddy's comments.

The conversation was fairly rambling and devoid of structure but there was spitefulness and rancour throughout.

O'Brien accused Collins of being 'bang out of order' in calling the game 'embarrassing' and pointed out he had never heard of Luton Town manager John Still, the man Roddy brought over to scout players.

O'Brien criticised the manner in which Derry City played under Roddy Collins, recalling a 'disgraceful' game up in the Brandywell at the start of the season.

Roddy, apart from appearing to back-track on his comments that the 'terrible' cup final was 'par for the course', (he said that if he thought it was that bad usually he wouldn't have brought an English manager over) spent most of the slot defending and expanding on his comments that the League was going backwards and even the best players wouldn't survive in League Two.

Stuart Byrne said the conversation itself was 'an embarrassment' and there was 'no structure' on it. The whole conversation had become, 'Irish football against Roddy Collins' rather than a proper examination of the game and where Irish football should go. He appeared to doubt that Roddy could genuinely have believed the Cup Final was that poor a game.
