Fresh off leading Brazil to Confederations Cup 'glory', Neymar has embarked on an even bigger and more unlikely challenge, convincing Barcelona to sign Wayne Rooney. The former Santos star is surprisingly effusive in his praise for the Manchester forward, "I have met Wayne on a few occasions and he seems a good guy but importantly, he is one of the players I admire most in the world. Wayne is one of the most gifted and technical players in the world. Of course he would improve Barcelona. He would improve any club in Europe. On a personal level, it would be a dream to play with him."

The Daily Star describe the potential forward line of Messi, Neymar and Rooney as "one of the most exciting frontlines in football history." Neymar is clearly enticed at the prospect of sharing many a vodka and a Pot Noodle with the Manchester United striker after it was reported the Rooneys had a £2,000 Tesco delivery consisting mainly of these delicacies sent to their motor homes in Glastonbury.

According to The Guardian, Newcastle United are bracing themselves for a bid for Yohan Cabaye from Paris Saint-Germain. Cabaye was one of the core players in new PSG manager Laurent Blanc's French side and 'is said to hold the midfielder in high regard.' Cabaye was apparently upset by Joe Kinnear mis-pronouncing his name as "Yohan Kebab" in a TalkSport interview and 'interrupted his summer holiday to seek clarification about the incident.' We would have an ounce of sympathy for Alan Pardew trying to explain to one of his star players that the new Director of Football just referred to him as skewered middle-eastern meat.

Lastly we bring you a rare but welcome beast in the form of an Irish player being the subject of a transfer rumour. The Daily Mail report 'Ull are 'keen on signing Richard Dunne to add to Curtis Davies and Maynor Figueroa as Steve Bruce looks to overhaul his defence before the start of the Premier League. Derby manager Nigel Clough has also declared an interest but we would be hopeful that Dunne could get a decent offer from a Premier League club.
